Mustang vs. Camaro/firebird?

Why do people consistantly compare the mustang & camaro/firebird? I am a very open-minded individual when it comes to cars and trucks. When it comes to these cars, I realize that they are in the same categoy, however when it comes to power and performance you are comparing apples to oranges. How is it possible to compare a 4.6 liter 281 cubic inch engine to a 5.7 liter 350 cubic inch corvette generation engine? Not to mention the many fiberglass body parts on the GM that under-weighs the mustang. I read an answer earlier where someone said the closest a mustang ever came to a camaro was the supercharged mustang cobra. The person then went on to say that it isn't fair and if they were to supercharge the camaro, it would be sick. First of all, there is an 80 cubic inc defecit between the two. The reason the Cobra hung with the GM was because the supercharger made up in cubic inches that it was lacking. In that case the comparison was more apples to apples.
