i recently bought an omega 2.5 v6 from a second hand garage after 1 month and 2300miles the cam belt came loose and put the timing out causing alot of damage to the engine. taking it to an independent garage they told me and put in writing that the tensioner was incorrectly tightened when the cambelt was changed shortly before i purchased it then saying that the problem was with the car when i bought it but was just unlucky that it happened so long after i had it. he went on to say that if done up correctly it should never come undone, after contacting the 2nd hand garage that i got the car from they said they dont have any responsibility for it even though consumer direct said its part of "sales of goods act 1979"and it was sold as an unsatisfactory quilty. they believe they are in the right and can take it to court and win. they have twisted what the garage said to them about the problem even though i have spoken to both parties. any advice on this matter would be very helpful
